Tree of Life Pendant with Woven BailFebruary 2, 9:00am - 1:00pm (ALREADY PAST)Wirework Class By Merilou JenkinsClass Fee: $135.00 No refunds after Dec 15, 2019
Skill Level: All
You may have seen Tree of Life pendants before but never one like this! I will show you how to create a tree of life on top of a dichroic glass cabochon and then finish it off with a woven bail. You will create the woven bail using the figure 8 wire weaving stitch, You will select your own cabochon and then create the tree of life in sterling silver wire. You will finish it off by learning the basics of wire weaving. This class really incorporates three techniques: enclosing a cabochon, creating a tree of life, and wire weaving (which is entirely different than wire wrapping). Once you learn these techniques a whole new world of ideas will open up for you. You can vary this by using different shapes of cabochons, different metals or elect to utilize a plain bail instead of a woven bail. I can also explain how to add additional beads around the outside of the pendant but we will not have time to do that in class.
Learn about wire temper, wire gauges and wire shapes as well as all about the necessary tools. You will learn how to clean, straighten and measure your wire. You will learn how to measure enough wire, how to straighten wire, the basics of wire weaving and how to bind your wire. Inasmuch as all tools are provided during the workshop, all you need to bring is a willingness to learn! Come and have fun! Class is limited to 8 so sign up early. Fee includes sterling silver wire, a dichroic glass cabochon, a jeweler’s polishing cloth, a fleece work surface and a copy of Merilou’s 12 page instruction book featuring complete instructions with color step by step photographs in addition to the use of all tools in class to complete the project.
