Think you need a kiln in order to fire and enamel fine silver metal clay? Think again! In this class, you'll learn how to use Lin Cora texture plates to create a fine silver piece born to be enameled! We'll add a bail and torch fire the metal clay.

After a burnishing spin, your piece will be ready to enamel. No long firing or tumbling times are required! We'll cover how to add enamel using a wet-packing technique, which colors are practically foolproof on silver, and how to torch fire the enamel using a butane microtorch.

You'll be able to watch the magic happen as the sandy grains of glass melt to become sparkling inlays in the silver. At the end of the class, we will cover finishing techniques for smoothing the enamel or removing errant grains to allow your silver to really shine.

Suggested tools to bring:
A small rotary tool can expedite the polishing and enamel cleanup but is not necessary. If you prefer to use one, please bring a face mask and safety glasses or a full face shield to use with the rotary tool. Any sanding/finishing of fired enamel will need to be done wet, so PPE is recommended to avoid the possible spray onto your face/eyes.

* Students will have access to tools and equipment in class. We are offering 10% off the tool kits for all students who register in advance! Select the option with the tool kit when you register. We will bring your tool kit to Tucson!

Join Us and Liberate Your Creativity:
Reserve your spot today, and let your imagination run wild as you craft these great rings. We can't wait to see you there!

Bead embroidery allows you to create in such a way that your mind is free to wonder. This raised piece could be a mermaid rifling through her closet. Add a collection of items she may happen upon on the sea floor and find interesting enough to collect. Start with the other-worldly MAK focal which sets the underwater tone in several ways; caged portal looks like an antique diving helmet, metal grommets resemble suckers of an octopus, and the blended colors mimic glistening water. Add a bracelet to the fin since mermaid's don't have ankles. What would /Your/ mermaid collect? The pendant size is ~4.5"" (w) x 4"" (h).

Techniques:
Raised bead embroidery, Blanket Stitch, Brick Stitch edging and internal construction.

Prerequisites:
Some bead embroidery experience is helpful.

Raised bead embroidery, Blanket Stitch, Brick Stitch edging and internal construction.
