Light & Shadow: Photograph Jewelry, Beads & GlassFebruary 5, 9:00am - 4:00pm (ALREADY PAST) Class By Doug BaldwinClass Fee: $175.00
Skill Level: All
Come and learn the secrets of how to shoot your jewelry, beads, glass and other arts and crafts, with a professional photographer and glass artist. See what aspects make for a high quality photograph. Learn the language of studio photography, the 9 parameters of successful photos and how to produce them. We’ll cover basic photography, the qualities of good lighting, composition, background materials, and how to set your camera's menus. Students will photograph their own pieces during class at lighting stations. Students should also consider taking the Photoshop class after the Photography class. It is offered on alternate days during the same show. You'll leave the workshop empowered to create photos as beautiful as the art you're photographing.
Supply list:
DSLR cameras with interchangeable lenses (18-55mm "kit" zoom is
acceptable) and manual exposure are recommended along with a tripod. A
macro lens for the DSLR is helpful for small glass and jewelry items. Pointand-shoot or fixed lens cameras without these features are inadequate, will
not perform as needed for creating professional work and are not
recommended. We’ll have 5 new Canon T6 cameras with 18-55mm lenses
and 5 Manfrotto tripods available for student use during class. If your
camera is too old (more than 5 years), a point-and-shoot with fixed lens or
you don’t have a DSLR camera, please contact Doug before class to reserve
one of these cameras. Students should bring 16-20+ art pieces to the class
to photograph. Also bring notepad, pen or pencil. Class fee includes the use of two light boxes and background paper during class, 6 hours of instruction and help with your camera and lighting. Fee must be paid in full at time of registration (non-refundable after January 1, 2020).
