METAL CLAY

Flower Power

By Melissa Kay-Steves

February 1, 9:30am – 4:30pm Already passed

Fee: Class: $195.00 (required) / Kit: $85.00 (required)

Skill level: All Levels

Beyond Beginner, some metal clay experience and/or soldering experience helpful.

Although we love setting stones in metal clay the options of CZ's and dichroic glass sometimes pale to the juicy amethyst and turquoise we so wish to add to our designs...until now! In this class, learn how to build a beautiful flower in layers. Once fired, build and solder on a bezel cup fitted for the stone of your choice.

We will explore options to make a two-sided pendant, add patina to make your project pop and learn ways to polish using different tools to give your piece that professional look. Demos for various ways to add elements to your piece, how to texture clay and metal pre and post-firing and so much more! This class is a bouquet of techniques sure to add bit of power to your flower designs.

All tools necessary will be available to use. Kit includes 15g Project X silver clay, texture papers, sanding and polishing materials, gemstone, patina, consumables and instructions.

Students should bring optivisor or visual aid. Personal lighting is strongly recommended.
