METAL CLAY
Pierced & Poised Pendant
By Melissa Kay-Steves
Cutting out intricate designs in metal clay can be tricky and a bit sticky. In this technique heavy class, learn how to pierce out a clean design in the greenware state using a jewelers saw. Then cut a tube setting that will make a metalsmith do a double take, and tie it all together with a slick metal clay jump ring. Amplify your cutout designs and leave the distortion behind in this jam-packed workshop. An array of piercing designs will be available or sketch your own.
Beyond Beginner, some metal clay experience is helpful.
All tools necessary will be available to use. Kit includes 15g Project X silver clay, texture papers, sanding and polishing materials, 6mm CZ, sawblade, patina, consumables and instructions.
Students should bring optivisor or visual aid. Personal lighting is strongly recommended.
