JEWELRY DESIGN

Not Yo’ Grandma’s Buttons

By Jen Cushman

February 3, 3:30pm – 6:00pm Already passed

Fee: Class: $75.00 (required) / Kit: $20.00

Skill level: Beginner

How can a tiny little utilitarian object speak volumes when it comes to mixed-media art
jewelry? Buttons are some of the most common, most well-loved and most lost objects of
all time! As a self-professed button hoarder, I find it’s one of my missions to not only save
old buttons but to repurpose them into wearable art. Learn how to take humble sewing
servants and elevate them to sweet baubles as we mix and stack and wire wrap vintage
buttons with beads and baubles. During our time together we will create a bracelet and at
least one set of earrings.
Student supplies: Round nose jewelry pliers, chain nose jewelry pliers and wire cutters.
Any beads, buttons or broken bits of old jewelry that you may wish to incorporate from you
home studio stash, and instructor will supply everything beyond your basic tools.
